HOW DO I MEET “THE ONE”?
The elusive “one”. All the single ladies are searching for him. And wow: the books, the websites, the TV shows that have been developed to break it all down for us. And oh how they make me cringe sometimes. Here’s my 2 cents:
IT'S NOT ABOUT FINDING THE ONE. IT'S ABOUT BEING THE ONE.
Have you ever noticed that the bible says very little about dating, boyfriends and girlfriends? Why not? It’s a big part of our life isn’t it? Well, yes. In Western culture, definitely. Why doesn’t the bible cover such an important subject? Actually, it does. It covers ALL RELATIONSHIPS. By dealing with YOU as YOU are the common denominator in all the relationships you will ever have!
SEE, THE BIBLE ISN’T ABOUT CHANGING OTHER PEOPLE. IT’S ABOUT CHANGING YOU.
The bible doesn't say a whole lot about "how to find a great husband" or “what the ideal boyfriend looks like…” The bible does, however, instruct ME on how to BE a great person. A spiritually, emotionally and physically healthy person.
The dynamic of all relationships - whether it’s within marriage, our friendships, or relationships with our siblings, parents, teachers, whatever - begins with ME. So, don't be on the hunt for Mr. Right. Don’t be caught up with trying to find The One. Be caught up in BEING THE ONE. Don’t focus on hunting down an outstanding person that will suit your wants, needs, and relationship checklist. How about we focus on BEING an outstanding person. Focus on becoming an outstanding person in God. Focus on your heart, your spirit, your personhood - and developing that into something that is flourishing in God.
I WONDER, IS IT REALLY SO MUCH ABOUT "FINDING THE PERFECT ONE FOR ME" OR IS IT ABOUT "BECOMING THE PERFECT TREASURE TO BE FOUND"
At the end of the day, it is our relationship with Jesus ALONE that will satisfy our heart. He wants you to get caught up with HIM before you get caught up with anyone else! Seek HIM first and all else with fall into place. Only when your relationship with HIM is healthy and flourishing, will all your other relationships be healthy and flourishing.

“IF GOD GIVES SUCH ATTENTION TO THE APPEARANCE OF WILDFLOWERS—MOST OF WHICH ARE NEVER EVEN SEEN—DON’T YOU THINK HE’LL ATTEND TO YOU, TAKE PRIDE IN YOU, DO HIS BEST FOR YOU? WHAT I’M TRYING TO DO HERE IS TO GET YOU TO RELAX, TO NOT BE SO PREOCCUPIED WITH GETTING, SO YOU CAN RESPOND TO GOD’S GIVING. PEOPLE WHO DON’T KNOW GOD AND THE WAY HE WORKS FUSS OVER THESE THINGS, BUT YOU KNOW BOTH GOD AND HOW HE WORKS. STEEP YOUR LIFE IN GOD-REALITY, GOD-INITIATIVE, GOD-PROVISIONS. DON’T WORRY ABOUT MISSING OUT. YOU’LL FIND ALL YOUR EVERYDAY HUMAN CONCERNS WILL BE MET.
